We all have favorite classic games, but which classics do you still play regularly?

For me it's the following:
Street Fighter 2, Tekken3, Super Mario Bros 1, 2 (also known as lost world, not the childish game with many characters) and 3, Super Mario World, Sonic the Hedgehog, Tetris, Final Fantasy VI and VII, Burnout3 Takedown, Megaman

I'm wondering how I have time for anything else

Since I don't have my SNES anymore it's pretty much left these days to the PSX remakes I have. FFIV, Chrono Trigger, FFV, FFVI, FFI and II (Origins version but still classic games).

I play a lot of Mega Man. I also play Sonic, Mario, Pac-Man, Pong (although that's hard to do when you can't find an opponet), and Punch-Out!

Final Fantasy I and II. I got a Nestopia emulator and I am finding it very hard. I couldn't be bothered spending £40 on I and II for the PSP. If anyone can remember playing on them on an original NES, did you find it as hard as I currently am?

What makes the original NES versions so difficult are the limitations that you have with them. For example, if you attack a single enemy with multiple characters, and that enemy dies before the all attack, the attacks do not redirect (like they do on the newer versions), but continue to attack the already dead monster. Plus, the fact that on Final Fantasy 1 on the NES, you can only carry 4 weapons and 4 pieces of equipment at a time doesn't help. As for the fact that the magic cannot be removed at will in Final Fantasy 1 on the NES, nor can you not tell what does what for whom: That's not that big a deal. In Final Fantasy 2 on the other hand, restricting items useable in battle to the to that the character has equipped to his or her self does tend to increase to the difficulty of it.

So its always been this difficult. OK. Its a wonder that they ever got popular, and didn't just die out. I suppose people were impressed by them when they were new, and didn't complain about the difficulty because there was nothing to compare them against.

That was the thing about gaming in those days. It was always difficult, but there was always several types of difficult. Final Fantasy was one of the good types of difficult: Hard but entertaining. Then there were games that were so hard, that even the best of gamers had to resort to cheating in order to advance. Those games were not all that great.

It's not like today, where a good hard game is too few and far in between. I hear people complain about games like Ninja Gaiden 2 for the X-Box 360, and Mega Man 9, and it desgust me, because that's what makes them so good

Yes. I've noticed a distinct lack of difficult games for the PSP especially. Final Fantasys are a good way to challenge even the experienced gamer.

I usually play Sonic on my train ride to work. It's nice and relaxing and I can play Emerald Hill Zone a thousand times and never get bored of it.
