I've put this in the classic thread for one main reason, we haven't had a proper Viewtiful Joe game since 2004 (not counting VJ red hot rumble), that's 6 years we've been in the dark.
Capcom still seems to care though, otherwise why would they have put him in Tatsunoko vs Capcom or even the soon to be released Marvel vs Capcom 3? I'm sure fan demand has something to do with it, but MVC3's been in development for quite some time, so care has to go into who they put in. I mean they have Joe but not Mega-man? The fans must want a conclusion.
What I mean by this is that at the end of Viewtiful Joe 2, we were left with a cliff hanger, much like the first game. We've still got lingering questions about what's going to happen next and how the series will end, so why shouldn't we know. We actually want a conclusion because it was a fun and humorous story.
I'm no fan boy, I don't even own Viewtiful Joe 1 for that matter, but I'll get it eventually. I just want the franchise to continue and possibly end with all our questions answered.

Viewtiful Joe has a story and a cliffhanger? I never noticed. I was busy throwing combos in slow-mo. I own the first two on GC. I beat the 1st one. Haven't played the 2nd yet. I'd buy a 3rd if HD.

I'm the same. I've played the first one and haven't played the second, despite owing it xD. But yes, I'd like to see a comeback for Joe.

Edit: ugh, forgot it was made by clover studios. Oh, how I miss them. God Hand was an awesome game. But alas, they were closed down by capcom and all the key members moved on and set up Platinum Games, who made Bayonetta, Vanquish and Mad World. When you think about it, Vanquish has quite a bit in common with viewtiful joe.

I think I only played the first game, and it was pretty enjoyable. But yes, the development studio that worked on the games has been dissolved by Capcom. I honestly don't know what was going through their minds when they did that.

I just checked, Okami was also made by Clover Studios. What I mean by this is that Capcom is releasing Okamiden this year, so even though the development studio has been discontinued, the franchise is still going on, despite it being years later. If they've continued the Okami franchise, there's absolutely no reason to not make VJ3.

Too bad, like many have already realized, Clover Studios has bitten the dust. With that said, the possibility for a third game may not be a total loss. Of course, you would need a publisher/developer combo brave enough to carry the torch. And while Capcom might have some interest to revive the franchise (and they've had a knack for such a thing this generation), I don't think we can expect a sequel anytime soon.

All the same...

Yeah i was sad that clover got canned. I liked Viewtiful Joe but I really liked Okami. Maybe we will see something at E3? (doubtful)

Woah I never knew there were so many Viewtiful Joe fans! I LOVED Viewtiful Joe, but to this day I've been unable to find a copy of the second one.Tongue I really wish he would make a comeback, but with Clover gone it seems unlikely. Joe being in Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Marvel vs Capcom 3 is good enough for me until/if we get VJ3.Big Grin
