At my local Gametraders store they are selling Final Fantasy 6,7,8 and 9. The only catch is that the price is that the price for a used copy is $290 and for a factory sealed copy was $700. Now there only reason for having them outrageously over priced was that SquareEnix does not make them anymore. Even though you can buy them cheaper on ebay.

My question to you is. How much would you pay for game that is 10 to 15 years old?

I think the reason the Older FF games are so expensive is because the FF franchise has picked up rather well lately. I can't really remember when, but i think ff 7, 8 & 9 got a higher selling price around the time ff 10 was released (but don't count me on that, I don't really notice many things Â¬.Â¬

As people are getting more 'into' the new ff games, some will want to buy the older ones (despite graphics) so if the prices are higher, people get more $$$

Just occurred to me though, i don't know, Is it actually Square Enix that demand the increase in price, or do the retailers do it so they just get more money? I dunno Â¬.Â¬

I just think the store owners are hoping for some moron to pay that much for game.

Well, to be honest, if it wasn't for PSN re-selling FF VIII and hopefully soon IX, I'd be one of them!

I've not played FF VIII, and my FF IX Disk is broken & won't play. Im surprised i haven't bought 9 already, considering i love that game. i think the last time i played it was about 6/7 years ago...

Those stores sell based upon demand, which means that people out there (collectors) have inflated the price up to be that high. Its value is really determined by a lot of things (make, model, generation) but mostly driven by personal desire. If people out there didn't strive to look for those things, they wouldn't be worth as much would it?

I can understand having an original copy of something, its neat and has some bragging power attached to it. Personally, I wouldn't spend that much on any game unless it came in an arcade box. Seems like a massive waste to me, but to each their own.

I wouldn't pay that much. I spent €30 on a second hand Final Fantasy VIII but that's because I really wanted it. I don't see anybody willing to pay that. But some people will surprise you...

Depends on the game really, i couldn't see myself paying hundreds of pounds for 'Pong'
As for classic games like old FFs or possibly titles like 'Panzer Dragoon Saga' or 'Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time' i'd be willing to part with just under the price of a current game now. Limited edition games with extra content (physical objects) i may even pay more than that. I would never pay over Â£100 for a game though, classic or current although i do like my collector's editions Wink

Holy crap guys! Don't be foolish and pay that kinda money, even for an FF title.
There is amazon and ebay that sell factory sealed FF games for around Â£10-20 (at least in the UK) and that includes postage.

Shop around or wait for them to come out on PSN.

I wouldn't pay more than 10$ for a game like FF7. A game like Pong? Well, maybe 10 cents.

Although, I had a friend who was willing to buy my copy of FF7 for 60$. She found someone else who was willing to give it to her for free while she was trying to come up with the money though... Oh well...
