Personally, I thought the story was just brilliant. Before I bought the game, I had a friend who went up to me and told me how the ending sucked and the game only does get interesting after like eight or nine chapters. I played while keeping that in mind. I liked the first chapters a lot, to be honest, but it's true that it does get way more interesting come later int he game.

And as for the ending...My friend couldn't have been more wrong. I thought it was absolutely amazing how the story turned out. It had all the emotions and elements that a good plot should have. It was beautiful, too. Honestly, the game had one of the best endings in any video games I've played.

I'm not sure if he is or not, but I can see what you're talking about. Although, to be honest, most of my friends only play sports or shooter games, so all they really look for in games is destruction and whatnot. >> None of them really cares about story; they think it's too lame and dull. But I actually do try to comprehend game plots as much as possible since it makes it more interesting. =3

I thought the story was pretty good too. Each character had their own reason for fighting and I really like how they developed and revealed more of each character, especially when they were separated into groups. It made the progression really easy to follow.

I think the saddest scene was definitely the scene with Sazh and Vanille when Sazh found out Vanille was the reason his son became a L'Cie. It was a really tear jerking moment (and the voice acting was just brilliant). The ending was a bit of a surprise for me, I thought Fang would be the only one who would consider sacrificing herself.

I honestly can't say because I spoiled myself like after it was released in Japan and in the US (I spoil myself in like everything that interests me but I still end up loving/hating the game.) I played the game at a friend's house in mid March after its release and I liked it but man did hope piss me off so bad and Lightning did some stupid things in cutscenes (ie hitting the fal'cie and cursing at it when she knows she shouldn't) I looked it up in Wiki, youtube, and ff wiki for the story but it was confusing to me but overall the story's amazing but the gameplay, combat system, linearity of maps, and lack of towns and npcs made me not like some of it

Yeah, the game never answered the question: What happened to Hope's father? That was something that was worth mentioning, loool. Kinda confusing on that part, but maybe he wasn't important enough to have turned to crystal? x3
Honestly, Sazh's son gets a few lines but he appears in the ending, at least.

Um, Hope's father was rescued by the Calvery, I believe, and kept aboard another ship. If you talk to Hope on the ship right after the mission at the house, he'll tell you. Not a major player, but still...

Bartholomew Estheim wasn't taken because Hope and Lightning made it seem that he was forced to shelter them so he's fine. and I don't think Dajh talks at all (I think that's Sazh's sons name) and yeah spoilers are alright in all of GU as long as it fits with the topic and you include a warning that's really obvious to see like SPOILER ************* or something or write Spoiler in white and write it in white. There are some people who don't know the story and just are curious and came in and for their sake put a warning or write it in white
